Teaching style

Expect to be challenged in my classes. There will be a strong focus on healthy alignment and technique as well as strength building exercises to facilitate lighter, more easeful transitions between postures.

I’m drawn to Yoga because of it’s ability to transform, re-shape and re-write your life day after day. I’m fascinated by the exploration – getting to know myself and how I relate to others and the world – through my practice. On and off the mat the learning continues – for over a decade of continuous practice.

I discovered yoga as a university student and first began classes in my gym. I soon became hooked. The practice was like medicine and it helped to ease the anxiety I felt during those stressful periods of university life. I studied Nutrition but then later completed a Post Graduate Certificate of Education and qualified as a school teacher. I like to think I’m a much more laid back version of the school teacher I was once but honestly, I’m probably not. I work hard to encourage my students in the areas they need to improve.

I believe the practice of Yoga can heal – physically, mentally and spiritually.

My main teachers are Eileen Gauthier, whom I also assist during Ashtanga self practice, Claudia Dossena and Alaric Newcombe.
